Founder Daniel Nixon established Obradura Creative Services in Brooklyn, NY circa 2008. Nixon was seeking a transition from the ethereal nature of a career in graphic design in the marketing and advertising industries to something more concrete, sometimes literally. Obradura was born from a want to provide a physical manifestation of in-office creative services. The company began delving into set design and fabrication, building elements of sets and props for photo shoots, product displays and on-screen clientele. Seeking to create more permanent and sustainable projects, Nixon apprenticed with John Randall at Bien Hecho and shifted focus to cafe/restaurant builds and creative office fixtures primarily utilizing reclaimed materials. During this period he developed a deep love for historic buildings: how they relate to their environs and enrich the character of businesses residing within their walls.
